Bedazzled Vodka Soda ~ Ashley Longshore Style
What do you do when two of your art loving besties come for a visit? Well, you greet them with a cocktail of course. When I saw my favorite artist Ashley Longshore was releasing these glasses at Forty Five Ten in Dallas, I picked up the phone and they were at my door the next day. I couldn’t love them more with their faces of Audrey, Frida and Grace! Truly spectacular and just so much fun ~ I knew they called for a little something extra. So I thought...what would Ashley do? Add sparkle of course! But you don’t need these glasses to create this bedazzled version of vodka soda with a splash of cranberry. I’m going to show you just how to do it so the next time your girls come to visit you can make their cocktail a little “extra” too!
You know that aisle in the grocery that has all the decorations for cupcakes? Go to that one and purchase a bottle of rainbow sparkling sugar sprinkles. The coarse version is preferable to the finer sugar grain. Next, get yourself a bowl (like a cereal bowl) and add about 3 tablespoons of honey and just enough water to stir it all together smoothly. I’m guessing around a tablespoon. In another cereal bowl pour a generous heaping of the sugar. I used about 1/3 of the bottle of sprinkles. Now all you have to do is dip the rim in the honey/water mixture and then the sugar just as you would if you were salting the rim for a margarita. That’s it! Make sure to add ice carefully as well as your cocktail of choice. It’s good to use a wide rim funnel for these two steps....the kind you would use for the purposes of canning. Here, I used vodka, soda and a splash of cranberry juice. I had these floral toothpicks lying around from a previous party and just added my lime to those. They were purchased in the party section at Target. PLEASE let me know if you find them...I looked at like 5 different Targets for y’all and can’t find them anymore. However, you could use a darling straw and just drop the lime in the glass. Cute straws are everywhere these days and Target DEFINITELY has those. Gold would be fabulous as well as a striped one...black and white, pink and white...anything. I probably wouldn’t do green though since you already have the lime as garnish, so choose another color.
Now, just place your glasses on a tray and wait for your girls to arrive. Oh...and make sure you put on a blouse that matches your cocktails like this one from Alice and Olivia because we are “extra” like that! On a side note, if you aren’t familiar with the work of renown pop artist Ashley Longshore, you should be! Her talent is nothing short of mind blowing! You will enjoy following along with her on Instagram @ashleylongshoreart or @ashleylongshoreworld if you prefer a PG version. Either way, she will add a little sunshine and sparkle to your day!
