Grocery Store Beauty: The Bargain Products I Swear By
I love my fancy lotions and potions with their pretty bottles and packaging just as much as the next girl. Sometimes though the most basic products can’t be beat. That is certainly the case for the three I’m about to tell you about.
We have to take care of our skin ladies ~ it’s our largest organ. The problem skincare products is many are sticky, take a while to “soak in” and the scents are just way too overpowering. I don’t know about you but I don’t want to smell like a bad cherry blossom tree, coconuts, birthday cake or lemons or aloe and so on and so on. One day I went for the Nivea Skin Firming Hydration body lotion – the bottle says it’s enriched with Q-10 (an antioxidant in our cells to help protect from aging) and firms skin in as little as 2 weeks. All of this for aground five bucks....SIGN ME UP. And you know what? It’s all the things! It goes on without a trace of residue, no stickiness, instant absorption and only the faintest of scents that’s just light, clean and barely there. It does not clash with my fragrance at all and most importantly it keeps my skin soft and hydrated all day.
I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve gone to bed with makeup on. I just can’t do it. I can’t. My only objective at night is to gently cleanse my face removing all traces of makeup and moisturize. If ever I skip a step, it’s what happens after the moisturizer. Again, with the dry/sensitive skin, CeraVe has been my product of choice for years. There is not much to say about it really except that it does literally every single thing it claims without any dryness or residue. It cleanses, hydrates and leaves my skin feeling soft and supple without any dryness or itching and I buy the big pump bottle for under ten dollars. Steal!
In the morning I like to gently exfoliate. Sometimes I put on a retinol or mask that causes some flaking. Exfoliating wakes up my skin for the day....you know...kind of like morning coffee but for your skin. I’ve used so many Olay products throughout my lifetime so it’s a brand I know I can trust. I played tennis for most of my life and theirs was the only sunscreen that didn’t sting my eyes when I would sweat (regardless of the ones the dermatologist would tell me to use). The Olay Micropoloshing Cleansing Infusion wash has been perfect perfect. It exfoliates oh so gently and the scent is amazing. The refreshing smell of citrus with the slightest hint of ginger is just what I need to wake up and get my day going. Again, under ten dollars.
Nothing makes me feel like a smart shopper more than when I find bargain products that do all the things. Next time you're in the grocery store grab some of these items.
